Santa Luce has selected Vestas for a contract to provide turbines for its 19.8MW wind project to be located in Tuscany.
Under the contract, the company will supply 11 turbines of V100-1.8MW type each with an energy generating capacity of 1.8MW for the Santa Luce wind power plant and producing about 53 Giga watt hour of clean power annually.
The project will generate sufficient electricity to meet the power demands of over 46,500 people in Italy and displace 21,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission.
Vestas Italia general manager Rainer Karan said the company’s has been selected by Santa Luce S.r.l. for the first V100-1.8 MW wind farm in Italy.
"This turbine has a very good fit to the Italian sites and respective wind conditions," Karan added.

By GlobalDataVestas, under the contract, will also deliver, transport, install, and commission the turbines and will also provide a VestasOnline Business SCADA system, and a 15 year service and maintenance AOM 4000 agreement.
The AOM 4000 agreement extends planned and unplanned maintenance services and consumables, offers risk management to avoid unforeseen operational costs.
Vestas is expected to start delivering the turbines during the third quarter of 2012 while the Santa Luce wind project is estimated to become commercially operation before the end of 2012.
Santa Luce is a special purpose company of Fera which develops wind power plants in Italy and together with Vestas it has installed 45MW of wind power.
