Indian firm Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned 100MW solar plants (50MW X 2) project, secured by the company under National Solar Mission Phase-II Batch-II Tranche-I State Specific Bundling Scheme, last year.
The generated power is supplied to National Thermal Power (NTPC), an Indian public sectored power generation company, under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement, priced at INR4.79 ($0.075) per unit.
Located at Pavagada Solar Park in the state of Karnataka, India, the two 50MW solar plants have been constructed over 533 acres.
The project’s development has increased the operating capacity of TPREL to 1614MW comprising of 530 MW wind and 1084 MW solar capacity located in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, Bihar, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
TPREL CEO Rahul Shah said: “The commissioning of the 100MW solar plant in Karnataka fortifies our position of being the largest renewable energy company in the country, with a strong presence in solar power generation.
“We prefer development opportunities in solar parks as land and evacuation are provided, and we can focus on the project. We are extremely proud of this development and we continue to seek potential areas across India and in select International markets through organic and inorganic opportunities.”
