India-based Suzlon Energy has secured a third order of 204.75MW from Jindal Green Wind 1, a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables.

This latest order propels Suzlon’s commercial and industrial (C&I) portfolio to a cumulative capacity of 907.20MW. The company’s total order book now stands at 5.9GW, with C&I customers representing 59% of this volume.

According to the new order, Suzlon will supply 65 S144 wind turbine generators with Hybrid Lattice Towers, each with a capacity of 3.15MW.

The generated wind energy will be used for captive consumption at steel plants in the Indian states of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. In addition, Suzlon has secured two orders of 702.45MW of wind energy to power Jindal Steel’s plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Suzlon Group vice chairman Girish Tanti said: “We’re proud to propel India’s steel decarbonisation forward through our strengthened partnership with visionary organisations like Jindal Renewables. Building on our initial successes in Karnataka, we’re now expanding the Low CO₂ Steel movement to Tamil Nadu, a trailblazer in wind energy. Together, we’re redefining the future of sustainable industrial growth in India.”

Jindal Renewables president Bharat Saxena said: “At Jindal Renewables, we are committed to leading the decarbonisation movement in India’s steel industry. This third order with Suzlon is a clear demonstration of our commitment to sustainable practices and our vision to become the largest de-carbonisation solution provider.”

In October 2024, the company secured a 400MW captive wind power deal with JSP Green Wind 1. This deal involved the supply of 127 turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15MW, to support the decarbonisation of India’s steel-making industry.
