PSEG Solar Source has acquired a 7MW-dc solar energy facility from BayWa r.e. for about $10m.
PSEG Halifax Solar Energy Center started operations on last December.
The energy centre, located on over 28 acres, has a 15-year power purchase agreement with Virginia Electric and Power Co.
The facility is under a 25-year lease with the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport in North Carolina.
PSEG Solar Source president Diana Drysdale said: “We are delighted to work with BayWa r.e. on this project, a best-in-class partner.
“We continue to focus on expanding our renewable energy business and this acquisition is another example of PSEG’s commitment to a sustainable energy future.”

By GlobalDataBayWa r.e. was the project’s engineering, procurement and construction contractor. It currently operates the facility for PSEG Solar Source.
This facility makes use of around 20,550 mono-crystalline solar panels along with three SMA inverters.
The project was initiated by Geenex Solar, a North Carolina-based developer.
PSEG Solar Source closed the acquisition from BayWa r.e. last December.

Following this acquisition, PSEG Solar Source currently has 23 solar facilities in operation in 14 states, of which six are in North Carolina.
Solar Source has a total installed capacity of 414 MWs DC.
