Nexif Ratch Energy has secured the pre-development environmental compliance certificate (Pre-Dev ECC) for its 500MW San Miguel Bay nearshore wind power project in the Philippines.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) issued the certification, which is an important step in advancing the project.

With this certification, Nexif Ratch Energy is now authorised to begin essential preparatory work. Key activities include offshore geotechnical studies, geophysical surveys, wind data collection, and metocean measurements.

Environmental and social baseline studies will also be carried out.

These preliminary activities are vital for gaining a clear understanding of the project site’s conditions. This allows for informed decision-making regarding the project’s development.

In December 2024, the San Miguel Bay Wind Project was granted the Certificate of Energy Project of National Significance (CEPNS).

The project was also recognised as a Strategic Investment under the Green Lane Initiative by the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI).

Alongside the San Miguel Bay project, Nexif Ratch Energy is also advancing its 475MW Lucena Wind Power Project in Quezon Province. The site received the CEPNS in January 2025.

Nexif Ratch Energy CEO Cyril Dissescou said: “This achievement marks a significant step forward in our commitment to developing offshore wind projects in the Philippines in an environmentally responsible manner.

“It aligns with national priorities, and we are proud to contribute to the Philippines’ growing renewable energy sector.”
