Van Oord has agreed to acquire the offshore wind activities of Dutch construction and engineering firm Ballast Nedam for an undisclosed amount.
An agreement to this effect was signed between both the companies.
The acquisition includes Svanen heavylift vessel, engineering, procurement, contracting and installation (EPCI) staff, and the 144MW Westermeerwind project.
Van Oord will integrate the acquired activities into its offshore wind projects (OWP) business unit.
The OWP unit can help achieve the Dutch Energy Transition Agreement’s goal of increasing renewables from 4% up to 16% of the country’s electricity generation in the next 10 years, Van Oord said.

Van Oord has been involved in offshore wind developments since 2002.
The company worked on various projects such as Princess Amalia in the Netherlands, Belwind in Belgium, Teesside in the UK, and DanTysk in Denmark.
