Siem Offshore Contractors (SOC), a unit of Siem Offshore, has been selected to provide turnkey supply and installation package of the inner array grid cable system for the Nordsee One offshore wind farm off Germany’s coast.

Developed by RWE Innogy (RWEI), the offshore wind farm is located within the German Bight sector of the North Sea, approximately 40km north of the island of Juist.

The wind farm comprises 54 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 6.15MW, and will be inter-connected by an inner array grid of 33kV medium voltage (MVAC) submarine composite cables with a total length of up to 72km.

Using resources within the Siem Offshore group, SOC will combine capabilities of Siem Offshore’s marine operations and the engineering and installation experience of SOC to form a natural and strong resource base to the benefit of the project.

The company will also provide associated materials and services which include the submarine composite cables and related accessories as well as post-installation termination, trenching and testing services in addition to providing the submarine cable installation works.

With engineering works of the project to be commenced immediately, the marine installation works will be undertaken in 2016 following final investment decision to be taken before the end of first quarter 2015.
