Scatec Solar has secured final approvals from the Utah Public Service Commission and Iron County Community Development and Renewal Agency to construct 80MW solar power facility in US.

To be located in Iron County, the Utah Red Hills Renewable Energy Park is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of 2014.
The ground-mounted PV solar facility, which will be constructed on around 650 acres of privately-owned land in Parowa, will use about 325,000 PV modules on a single-axis tracking system.

The plant is capable of generating about 210 million kWh of electricity per year that can power about 18,500 homes.

Under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA), the solar energy generated by the plant will be supplied to PacifiCorp.

Scatec Solar CEO Raymond Carlsen said the company has moved into the next stage of development for the Utah Red Hills Renewable Energy Park.

"With our experience gained from PV projects around the world, our team is well prepared to take on the challenges associated with realizing this large-scale solar power plant — and we are grateful for the opportunity to bring our expertise to this first utility-scale PV project in Utah," Carlsen added.
