National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) of India intends to develop solar power facilities in India having a combined generation capacity of up to 3000MW in the current financial year.

NTPC Director (Commercial) I J Kapoor was quoted by The Economic Times as saying: "In February NTPC board had approved a commitment to the government for developing 10,000 mw of solar power capacity in the next five years.

Extending for 25 years, the agreement has fixed tariff of Rs 6.16 per unit for the energy supplied from the solar facility.
