Mississippi Power has teamed up with solar provider Origis Energy to develop a 52 MW solar project on 485 acres in Sumrall, Mississippi.
However, the project needs approval by the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
Mississippi Power is expected to get all of the energy and associated renewable energy credits through the project, which is likely to be sold at wholesale to third parties or will be used to serve its customers.
Mississippi Power is also teaming up with Strata Solar on a 450-acre, 50 MW electric solar generating station at Hattiesburg’s Forrest County Industrial Park.
The company is also partnering with Navy and Hannah Solar on 23-acre, 3-4 MW facility at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport .
Mississippi is about to get its largest solar installations as two solar companies along with the US Navy will be building utility-scale solar electric generating farms in two different places in the territories.
