Renewable energy manufacturer Gamesa has won two turbine contracts for 260MW of wind power projects in India.

The first contract signed with Greenko is for 160MW, according to which Gamesa has to supply, install, and commission 80 of its G97-2MW turbines for wind power developments in the country.

The deal represents first phase of a new framework agreement between the two firms, which has provision for 300MW wind energy projects.

30 of the new deliveries will be installed at the Jaisalmer region in Rajasthan and the remaining 50 will be set up at Basavanabagewadi in Karnataka.

Gamesa is also responsible for operations and maintenance of the facilities, after both the firms are commissioned by June 2015.

The Spanish firm is expected to make the turbine deliveries by the initial quarter of the year.

The second phase of the Gamesa-Greenko deal, which is scheduled to be secured by the second quarter in 2015, will involve multiple wind power projects totalling 140MW spread across the Indian states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The second turnkey contract is with CLP India for a 100MW wind power development in Chandgargh, Madhya Pradesh.

Gamesa will supply 50 of its G97-2.0 MW turbines for the facility, besides offering its services and handling the entire infrastructure for operations and installation.

The firm is expected to deliver the turbines within the first half of 2015 since the time for project commissioning has been scheduled by December.

Gamesa chairman and managing director in India Ramesh Kymal said: "These new order wins reinforce our leadership position in India, a rapidly-growing market, and evidence the stock placed by customers in Gamesa’s technology and experience."
