Dong Energy plans to proceed with the construction of the 258MW Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm in the UK.
The project, which is situated 8km off the UK coast in Liverpool Bay, will have 32 MHI Vestas V164-8MW wind turbines.
Expected to be commissioned in 2017, the extension facility will be located adjacent to the existing 90MW Burbo Bank wind farm.
The Burbo Bank wind farm is located on the Burbo Flats in Liverpool.
The extension will cover an area of 40km² and will be located to the west of the operational facility in Liverpool Bay, about 7km north of the North Wirral coast.
The Burbo Bank Extension is the first of three projects for which Dong Energy received final investment decision enabling contracts from the UK government in April 2014.
