Dominion Energy has acquired the 10MW Clarke County solar power facility in Virginia from the project developer, an affiliate of US-based Hecate Energy.

The company also intends to buy another 20MW solar farm in Northampton County, Virginia from Hecate Energy.

Currently under construction, the solar facility is expected to be purchased by Dominion Energy in the third quarter of this year.

Dominion Energy chairman, president and chief executive officer Thomas Farrell, II said: “Dominion Energy is pleased to aid in the expansion of solar power in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“We see great promise in clean solar energy and believe it will be an ever-increasing portion of our company's fuel mix over the decades to come.”

Long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for both the projects are in place with Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) for the offtake from the solar facilities.
