BFG France has signed an agreement with Alstom to supply composite structures to manufacture nacelle casings for the Haliade 150-6MW wind turbine.
The agreement, which has been signed within the framework of the second call for tenders to manufacture offshore wind turbines, will be applicable in the event that the consortium led by EDF is awarded at least one of the two wind farms projects.
Alstom Renewable Power president Jérôme Pécresse said, "Alstom and its partners stand ready to make investments that will create up to 8,000 jobs if we are awarded the projects needed to support such investments."
In recent months, Alstom has conducted discussions with around 300 French suppliers for identifying and qualifying subcontractors for the production of offshore wind turbines.
Several French suppliers have already been identified by the consortium, which has already selected STX associated with Alstom Grid for the construction of substations and signed an agreement with La Rochelle harbor to build foundations for the two islands project.
Currently, construction on two plants in Saint-Nazaire is underway, which will produce the nacelles and generators, and are slated to be completed by the end of 2014.
