
Nautilus Solar Energy has expanded its community solar footprint in Maine, US, with 15 new projects reaching commercial operation in 2024.
These projects add 78MW of capacity, increasing the company’s total operational capacity in the state to 160MW.
The latest additions push the total number of community solar projects operated by Nautilus Solar in Maine to 28.
These projects collectively serve over 13,700 subscribers, including more than 285 commercial and industrial customers.
Nautilus Solar CEO Jeffrey Cheng said: “Community solar plays a vital role in making the benefits of clean energy more accessible to local residents while directly contributing to Maine’s ambitious renewable energy goals.

By GlobalDataA notable addition to Nautilus Solar’s recently commissioned projects is a 7MW community solar project in Sanford, Maine.
Located on a mix of city-owned land and property from the Maine Turnpike Authority, the site was previously home to a circuit board recycling facility. Now fully operational, the Sanford project is providing clean, renewable energy to over 960 subscribers.
Cheng added: “Our projects in Maine have also positively impacted the local economy by creating jobs during construction and supporting ongoing site management.
In August 2024, Nautilus Solar Energy announced the opening of a community solar farm on the Altamont municipal waste dump and burn pit, formerly the Schenectady Army Depot.
