Meta has signed four environmental attribute purchase agreements (EAPAs) with Zelestra, a Spanish company formerly known as Solarpack, for the construction of four solar power projects in Texas, US.
These agreements will support the construction of four solar energy projects, enhancing Meta’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy utilisation.
The solar projects will have a combined capacity of 595MWac or 720MWdc.
The projects are located in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson counties and will deliver electricity to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid.
This initiative is part of Meta’s strategy to power its data centre operations with renewable energy.
Meta global energy head Urvi Parekh said: “We are excited to announce these solar projects with Zelestra.

By GlobalData“The renewable energy from these projects will support our data centre operations, as well as our ongoing efforts to match our electricity usage with 100% clean and renewable energy.”
With these latest agreements, the partnership between Meta and Zelestra has resulted in six EAPAs totalling 800MWac.
This includes previous agreements signed between the two companies last year for the construction of two solar plants in Indiana with a total capacity of 210MWac (280MWdc).
These collaborations have enabled Zelestra to plan the construction of more than 1GWdc of projects in the US.
Zelestra is significantly expanding its US presence, with approximately 6.6GWdc of renewables projects under development across various states.
Zelestra US CEO Phillip North said: “We are pleased to triple the size of our partnership with Meta, demonstrating that we share the same commitment to accelerate decarbonisation. The agreement is a major boost to our wider ambition of doubling our total contracted renewables portfolio across the US in the next two years.”
Last month, Meta Platforms signed four agreements with Chicago-based energy company Invenergy for 760MW of renewable energy.
The EAPAs bring Meta’s total clean energy procurement from Invenergy to exceed 1GW.
