Project developer and investor InfraCo Africa, a part of the multi-lateral Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), has entered into a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to develop the Khoumagueli Solar project in the Republic of Guinea.

The JDA was signed with Solvéo Energie, Solvéo Guinea Renewable Energy and Solvéo International Investments SARL for a 45% equity interest to develop the project.

InfraCo West Africa senior business development manager Kodjo Afidegnon said: “Khoumagueli Solar is an exciting project for InfraCo Africa and our partners as it adopts an innovative approach to the development of Guinea’s renewable energy sector; using solar to enhance the viability of the country’s existing hydro resource.”

InfraCo Africa will invest up to $3.1m to fund the early-stage development costs of the project and provide resources through its contracted developer, Aldwych Africa Developments Ltd (AADL).

Located near the city of Linsan in the Province of Kindia, the Khoumagueli Solar plant will connect to existing grid infrastructure.

Expected to be the first grid-connected solar power plant, the project adds 40MWp of renewable energy to the nation’s 566MW national grid.
