Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has announced that its Jeonnam 1 offshore wind project in South Korea has delivered its first power.
The project is a joint venture between CIP through its Copenhagen Infrastructure III fund, SK Innovation E&S, and Copenhagen Offshore Partners, CIP’s exclusive offshore wind development partner.
With construction having begun last year and turbine installation starting in September 2024, Jeonnam 1 is on track to supply green electricity to around 60,000 households upon completion.
Commercial operations are projected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
Jeonnam 1 has contributed to the local economy and the growth of South Korea’s offshore wind sector by awarding contracts to local suppliers and using domestic ports and facilities.
Since entering the South Korean market in 2018, CIP has collaborated with local partners to strengthen wind power infrastructure. With a pipeline of around 5GW in offshore wind projects, the company remains an active participant in the country’s renewable energy development.
