Description

The project is being developed by Peterborough Renewable Energy. KNM Process Systems Sdn and Peterborough Renewable Energy are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 80% and 20% respectively.

The project is expected to generate 430GWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 60,000 households. The project is expected to offset 614,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of gasification will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Municipal solid waste will be used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.

Contractors involved

China Western Power Industrial is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Triveni Engineering & Industries will be the steam turbine supplier for the project. The project consists of 5 steam turbines.
