Description

The project is being developed by Madhya Bhotekoshi Jalavidhyut. Chilime Hydropower, Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Araniko Hydropower, Sindhu Investment and Sindhupalchowk Hydropower are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 38%, 10%, 1%, 1% and 1% respectively.

Bhotekoshi is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project will be 235m and 222m respectively. The project is expected to generate 542.2 GWh of electricity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2013. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2023.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Nepal Electricity Authority under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years.

Contractors involved

Andritz Hydro will be the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company is expected to provide 3 units of francis turbines, each with 34MW nameplate capacity.

Andritz Hydro is expected to supply 3 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is likely to be 40.35 MVA.
