Description

The project was developed by Akita Offshore Wind Farm. The project is co-owned by Akimoku Steel Casting, Chubu Electric Power, Cosmo Eco Power, Kanpu, Kato Construction, Kyouwa Oil, Marubeni, Obayashi, The Kansai Electric Power and Tohoku Sustainable & Renewable Energy, with their respective ownership stake of 10% each.

The wind turbines in the project are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the project.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 48,950 households.

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2021 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in January 2023.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Tohoku Electric Power under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.332kWh for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 54.6MW.

Contractors involved

Vestas Wind Systems was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 13 units of V117-4.2 MW turbines, each with 4.2MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Offshore Wind is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 20 years.
