The top five companies accounted for 45% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that RTX filed the most 3D printing patents within the power industry in Q3 2023. The company filed 18 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 21 in the previous quarter. It was followed by General Electric with 6 3D printing patent filings, US Department of Energy (5 filings), and Eaton Corporation (3 filings) in Q3 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 41% share of total patent filings
The largest share of 3D printing related patent filings in the power industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 41%, followed by China (17%) and South Korea (7%). The share represented by the US was 0.97% higher than the 40% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
