Envision Energy, in collaboration with Kazakhstan Utility Systems, has started construction of a new wind turbine and energy storage manufacturing facility in Khorgos, Kazakhstan.

Last month, an agreement was signed between Envision and Kazakhstan Utility Systems to establish local manufacturing capabilities for wind turbines and energy storage systems.

The deal aims to enhance the country’s renewable energy capacity and accelerate its transition to a green economy.

Being built in the Jetisu region near the Chinese border, the $40m plant at Khorgos is expected to have an annual production capacity of 2GW of wind turbines and 1GWh of energy storage systems.

The facility is designed to produce 250 wind turbine units and 100 energy storage units a year, with 60% of its output aimed at the local market and 40% intended for export to nearby regions such as Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Expected to create more than 3,000 jobs, including 300 production roles, the project will begin operations in the third quarter of 2026.
