PureSky Energy has achieved commercial operations for its 4.4MWdc Cotuit community solar farm, located near Sandwich, Massachusetts, US.
Paired with a 1.4MWdc battery energy storage solution (BESS), the solar farm represents PureSky’s 11th project in Massachusetts and 35th nationwide.
The solar farm is equipped with 11,172 “high-efficiency” solar panels and is expected to generate approximately 5,720,305kWh annually. It can power 783 households in the region.
Its operations are expected to reduce CO₂ production by 8.81 million pounds (mlb) a year, which is equivalent to removing 951 cars from the road.
PureSky donated the land for the solar farm to the municipality of Sandwich and is leasing it back, creating a stream of local revenue.
Additionally, a neighbouring municipality has committed to purchasing community solar credits from the Cotuit solar farm at a reduced rate.
