Vestas has secured a contract from Germany’s BayWa subsidiary Eolica San Lupo to supply and install turbines for the latter’s 48MW wind park in San Lupo, Campania, Italy.

Eolica San Lupo secured the project through an energy auction sought by the Government of Italy in February last year.

As part of the latest deal, Vestas will provide its V117-3.45MW turbines in Load Optimised Mode with a nominal rating of 3MW.

Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to take place by the end of this year and their commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of next year.

The newly signed deal also includes a 15-year full scope active output management (AOM 5000) service agreement.

Vestas Italy, Greece and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region general manager Rainer Karan said: “Vestas extensive experience in Italy and broad range of auction-related capabilities have been key in securing this order.

“Today, Vestas has more than 450MW of turbines currently under construction in Italy, including three projects developed with BayWa, a truly valuable partner with whom we are pleased to work once again.”

In March this year, the company was selected by an undisclosed customer to provide its V136-3.45MW turbines to produce a total of 209MW energy.

The agreement also includes supply and commissioning of the turbines as well as a seven-year service agreement.

Vestas expects to begin delivery of the turbines by the last quarter of this year.
