France-based Voltalia has secured approval for developing two hydropower plants with a total capacity of 17MW, in Morocco.
Voltalia secured the permits from the Moroccan Ministry for Energy, for the projects – one with 9.8MW capacity and the other with 7.2MW.
These plants will be located in the Middle-Atlas region.
These approvals come after technical approval was granted by the National Bureau for Electricity and Drinking Water related to connecting the plants with the national grid.
Voltalia CEO Sébastien Clerc said: “These permits come as a recognition of the extensive work done over the past three years by our Moroccan team.”
The company has secured approval from water basin agencies too.
