AES India and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation have begun construction of a 10MW solution, India’s first grid-scale energy storage system.
The solution will serve the electric grid, which will be operated by India-based Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL).
Fluence, a global energy storage technology solutions and services company owned by Siemens and AES, will supply the Advancion storage solution to AES and Mitsubishi Corporation.
It will be deployed in Rohini, Delhi, at a substation operated by Tata Power-DDL.
Slated to complete later this year, the 10MW solution will enable better peak load management, frequency regulation, boosts reliability and adds system flexibility for more than seven million consumers in the Delhi region.
AES Eurasia Strategic Business Unit president Mark Green said: “Adding Fluence’s Advancion energy storage solution will allow us to continue to contribute to the modernisation and enhancement of the electricity system in India.”
