Swedish energy firm Vattenfall has announced that it will be buying electricity generated from Banks Renewables’ Hook Moor Wind Farm in West Yorkshire, UK.
The companies have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Yorkshire project.
The five-turbine Hook Moor scheme in the Leeds metropolitan area will be the first wind firm for the city and will use turbines of 2 MW to 2.5 MW.
The company has started the development work for the wind farm and it is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year.
Jake Dunn of Vattenfall Origination said: "We were pleased to work with one of the largest independent wind developers in the UK and it has been a pleasure to work with Phil Whyman and his team at Banks.
"Vattenfall is committed to increasing its share of renewable generation through contracting long term PPAs in addition to developing its own wind farm assets."

The company also operates seven wind farms with 600MW of installed wind capacity as well as involved in offshore projects.
