Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been awarded a contract by EnBW for the installation of a 112MW EnBW Albatros project in Germany.
Under the contract, Siemens Gamesa will provide 16 direct-drive SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines on monopile foundations and the grid connection via a Siemens Offshore Transformer Module (OTM).
The order comes after the company was awarded an order in February this year for the 497MW EnBW Hohe See offshore wind power plant that will see Siemens Gamesa supply 71 wind turbines of the type SWT-7.0-154, rated at 7MW each.
Located 90km north of Borkum Island in the German North Sea with water depths of up to 40m, the two projects will be installed in parallel.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Offshore CEO Michael Hannibal said: “EnBW Albatros allows us to demonstrate our broad competence in offshore projects, ranging from project specific engineering services and the beneficial combination of power generation and transmission technology to service and maintenance concepts.”
The two projects provide synergies to EnBW in terms of planning and construction, as well as during operation.

By GlobalDataThe installation will begin next year and the commissioning will take place in 2019.
After the project is commissioned, Siemens Gamesa will initially provide service and maintenance for the turbines over a period of five years.
Siemens has tied up with offshore construction specialist GeoSea Albatros for construction and installation of the monopiles at EnBW Albatros project.
GeoSea has also partnered for offering similar services to the EnBW Hohe See project.
