Description
The project is being developed by Obayashi Kamisu Biomass Power Generation. Chubu Electric Power, Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance, Solariant Japan and Bio Fuel are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 44%, 6% and 5% respectively.
The project is expected to generate 350GWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 110,000 households.
The process of combustion will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product and wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in July 2023.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Tokyo Electric Power Co Holdings under a power purchase agreement. The power will be sold at the rate of $0.22kWh for a period of 20 years.
Contractors involved
Hitachi Zosen, Okumura and Toyo Engineering are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
General Electric will be the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company is expected to supply Reheat steam turbine model turbines for the project.
Andritz is likely to be the supplier of the steam boiler for the project.Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems is expected to be the supplier of electric generators for the project.
JERA is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the project.
