Description

The project was developed by SunEdison. African Infrastructure Investment Managers and African Rainbow Energy And Power are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50.01% and 15% respectively.

Waterloo Vryburg Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 171 hectares.

The project generates 180,000MWh electricity thereby offsetting 125,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in November 2020.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 75MW.

Contractors involved

juwi was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.

Suntech Power Holdings was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company installed 261,360 modules at the site.

juwi is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project for a period of 5 years.
