Description
The project is being developed by Lanco Teesta Hydropower and NHPC. The project is currently owned by Lanco Teesta Hydropower.
Teesta VI is a run-of-river with pondage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 1.38 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 103.2m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 4 in number. The penstock length will be 30.5m. The penstock diameter will be 4.5m. The project is expected to generate 2,400 GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2009. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.
Contractors involved
GE Power India will be the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company is expected to provide 4 units of francis turbines, each with 125MW nameplate capacity.
GE Power India is expected to supply 4 electric generators for the project.
